Location:  Shawnee Civics Center; 13817 Johnson Drive; Shawnee, KS 66216

GAPKC is honored to be hosting Alex and Leceta Chisholm Guibault from Our Guatemala: Travel with Purpose in Kansas City to share their story! Alex has an incredible story and tells it well. This will be a great opportunity for children and families to really look at another perspective outside the one that they are accustomed to living. They will learn what life is like in a third world country. Guests will learn about Guatemalan culture and life in Guatemala for the average person. Alex will share about his life and what he has overcome and how he is using his past to create a brighter future. Alex will speak about abandonment, neglect, homelessness and how he finally found his family as a young adult and is now embodying... the slogan of Be the Change.

This will also be a kickoff event for the water project in Santa Maria Ixhuatan, Santa Rosa, Guatemala. Alex will share how he came to become involved in this community and the goals of the project.

There will be light Guatemalan themed refreshments for a small donation as well as items for sale that were made in Guatemala. There will also be a raffle! All proceeds and donations will go to support the Water Project in Santa Maria Ixhuatan, Guatemala.

Purchase tickets by clicking the button on the right of this page to let us know how many guests to plan for.  Cost is a donation of $10/adult, $5/child or $25/family.  Please share this event with your friends! It will be a powerful evening that will change lives.

Schools and Shoes for Guatemala

I recently took a vacation trip to Guatemala.  I was able to spend my first day returning to Santa Maria Ixhuatan, Santa Rosa where we delivered 77 sets of bunk beds last summer.

With support from our GAPKC families as well as support from my daughter's school, we were able to deliver school supplies to over 200 students and delivered over a hundred pairs of shoes.

Enjoy the pictures.  Thank you for all that support these projects.  Stay tuned for our next project which will truly be life changing!

Heading back to Guatemala

I will be heading back down to Guatemala in February to bring supplies and shoes to the families in Santa Maria Ixhuatan.  In addition, I will be working with the team of OUR Guatemala to get more information about the project to bring water to this village.  My daughter's school is collecting shoes for the children in the village and after just one week we already have over 60 pairs (62 pounds) to take down..  We are continuing to collect shoes until February 12.  If anyone local has any shoes they would like to donate, email gapkc.org@gmail.com and we can arrange pickup.

Thanks for all of the support in these projects to help the country of our children's origin!

picture. I will post pictures after the event on Christmas Eve. Thank you!

Here are all of the families that we are trying to bring Christmas to in Santa Maria Ixhuatan, Santa Rosa, Guatemala.  This village is about 3 hours outside of Antigua and until we visited this summer had never received assistance from outside organizations because they are too far away.  These are the poorest of the poor and live without running water (more in the future about a project to bring them water).  We were able to provide beds and food baskets this summer and would like to bring a little Christmas cheer to them during this holiday season.

If you are able to help, you can make a tax deductible donation click on the donate button on the right side of this page.  We want to provide tamales, a food basket and a small toy for each child.  This is a great gift for that hard to shop for person who has everything and needs nothing.  If you include your address when you donate, I will make sure you get a photo card to give as a gift to your recipient.  If you want to sponsor a particular family for Christmas, just tell me their number that is under their picture.  I will post pictures after the event on Christmas Eve.  Thank you!

Three of our GAPKC families were part of a team of 26 this summer visiting a remote village in Guatemala. Tonight I received a plea for help to bring Christmas to 40 of the poorest families in the village. We would like to provide tamales, a small food basket and small toy for the kids for Christmas.

The goal is to provide 400 tamales, 40 food baskets and a 200 small toys for the children. The cost of the project is $1400.00.

I know many of you have already allocated your Christmas dollars but if you have anything you want to contribute to this village it will be greatly appreciated. I will make sure that each person that contributes receives a thank you card with a picture of a recipient of your gift. So if you want to give on behalf of someone this is a great gift for that hard to buy for person that has everything and wants nothing.

To make a tax deductible contribution click on the Donate button on the right of this page.

If you include your address I will send you a thank you card with a picture of a recipient that you are helping and I will post pictures of the event after it takes place on Christmas Eve.

Thank you for anything you are able to contribute. Help us bring smiles to these kids faces for Christmas.
